HEC NEED BASED SCHOLARSHIPS 2020-21

 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

• Financial assistance & scholarships are available for study at Undergraduate level in all disciplines at HEC selected public sector Pakistani universities and degree awarding institutions.
• Students need to compete for securing admission at the participating institution as per admission policy of the institution and be enrolled in Undergraduate (4 years) programs.
• Students in financial need who are already enrolled in participating institutions are also eligible to apply.
• The eligibility of a candidate is linked to his/her financial needs as assessed by the Institutional Scholarship Award Committee. The financial background of the family of the applicant will be kept in view in this regard.
• The number of slots will be decided by the universities.
• Funding for slots will continue for the complete duration of the program. In case any students drop out, they will be replaced by other candidates on the waiting list.
• All disciplines will be kept open. The selected university will decide whether to include or exclude any discipline keeping in view its grant, program cost, and number of allocated slots, etc.
• In the case of Medicine, Pharm-D and other five year programs, funding will be made available for the complete program.
• Considering the allocated grant, the university may adjust the total number of scholarships to an extent in order to cover the tuition fees.
• In addition to the tuition fee, every grantee will be paid Rs.6000/- stipend per month for the complete program.

The complete application should be sent to relevant Financial Aid Offices where the applicant intends to secure admission.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARD PROCESS

• The applications of all potential candidates are reviewed by the Institutional Scholarship Award Committee (ISAC). The committee is headed by the Vice Chancellor of the participating institution, along with members from the institution as well as external members. This is done to ensure impartiality and transparency.
• The ISAC recommends potential candidates to the HEC Scholarship Management Committee (SMC). The committee includes top Executives of HEC, representatives from the participating institutions, and eminent scholars. The SMC undertakes a thorough review before approving eligible cases.
• After finalization of awardees' list, the participating institutions will forward the funds to the selected students.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

What does the scholarship cover?

The Needs Based Scholarship program covers funds for the following expenses:

• Tuition Fee
• Stipend

HOW TO APPLY

Interested applicants can receive the Scholarship Application Form from the Financial Aid Office (FAO) at the participating University/Institution. The form can also be

The Scholarship Form will be submitted along with　supporting documents to the same　Financial Aid　office (at university only) after completion. (HEC will not accept any application form directly)

Students need to secure admission to any one of the approved disciplines at the participating Universities/Institutions as per their admission criteria.

Please note that this scholarship program also considers partial scholarship for students already enrolled at the selected university/DAI.

Please note that under this scholarships scheme, the funds are not transferred directly to students by HEC. The payment is made to the students through participating universities/institutions.

Are applicants enrolled in universities/institutions outside of Pakistan eligible for the scholarship?

The scholarship will only be offered to the applicants who are enrolled in selected participating public sector Pakistani universities. List is already available on HEC webpage:

Does this scholarship provide any total or partial assistance to the students who are studying in other Pakistani universities outside of the HEC selected institutes?

This scholarship will not provide any assistance to students who are studying in institutions other than the HEC selected institutes.

What is the application process? Do I need to re-apply every year?

After being admitted to the selected university, you can apply directly for financial aid. The financial aid form will be made available with the Administration Office of the university. You can return it to the same office for submission. Once you are selected under this program, you will not need to apply every year.

What are the eligibility criteria for these scholarships?

Any financially constrained students enrolled in the selected university/DAI are eligible to apply. For further details, check the Eligibility Criteria page.

 What kind of expenses will be covered in this scholarship program?　

The scholarship covers the full tuition fee and monthly stipend (PKR 6000/month for 10 months).

Can I apply for admission to any of the participating universities for admission?

Yes, you can apply to any of the participating universities when they offer the admission.

How can I receive an application form?

The application form is available on the HEC website (downloads) and participating University web site/Financial Aid Office.

I have completed my matriculation. Can I apply for this scholarship?

No, these scholarships are only for the Undergraduate and Graduate level.

I am studying in the third semester of the relevant course, am I eligible for this scholarship?

Yes, previously enrolled students can apply for this scholarship.

 I am already availing financial assistance/scholarship from university/institute. Am I eligible for this scholarship?

No, the students already availing financial assistance/scholarships from universities/institutes are not eligible to apply.

 Is it possible to transfer the awarded scholarship from a selected university/institute to another one?

No. As per provision, it is not possible to transfer the scholarship from a selected university/institute to any other university/institute.

If we secure admission on self-finance in participating university then we are eligible for this scholarship?

No. Students who got admission on self-finance are not eligible for this scholarship.

Do the students who are studying in affiliated colleges of participating universities are eligible to apply for this scholarship?

No. This scholarship program does not cover affiliated colleges of participating universities.

Does HEC announce the starting and closing date of this scholarship program?

No. It is the responsibility of participating university to announce the start and end date.
